Orchid Pavilion Preface
Eastern Jin Dynasty Wang Xizhi
In the ninth year of Yonghe, in the year of Guichou, in early March, we gathered in Lanting, Shanyin City, Kuaiji County, in order to do spring activities. Many wise men and women gathered here, men and women and children gathered here. Lanting is a place with high peaks, lush and dense forests and bamboo clusters. There is also a clear and stirring water, shining around the pavilion, we attracted the water as a floating cup of circular channel water, sitting next to the water, although there is no orchestra, but drinking wine, writing poetry, but also enough to express the feelings hidden in the deep.
On this day, the weather is clear, and the wind is breezy, looking up at the vast sky, looking down to observe a wide range of things on the earth, to stretch the eyes, open the mind, enough to maximize the audio-visual pleasure, it is very happy.
People interact with each other, and soon spend a lifetime. Some people in the room, talk about their own ambitions; Some people with their love of good things, their feelings are not constrained, indulge the life without restraint. Although each has his own hobbies, quiet and restless are different, but when they are happy with what they are in contact with, they feel satisfied, happy and satisfied, and they do not know that old age is coming. When you get tired of what you love, your mood changes with the current situation, and emotion follows. What I liked in the past, in an instant, has become a relic, but it can't help but cause feelings in the heart, and the length of life, depending on nature, finally boils down to extinction. The ancients said: death and life is a big deal after all. How can you not grieve!
Whenever I see the reason for the predecessors feeling, I sigh like a token in line with, there is no not to face their articles and lament, can not be clearly explained in the heart. I knew that the statement that life and death are equal is untrue, and that the statement that long life is equal to short life is false. Future generations look at today's people, just as today's people look at their predecessors. It's pathetic! So I wrote down the psalms of those who were there. Even though times change things differently, the reasons that trigger people's feelings, their thoughts and tastes are the same. Later generations of readers will also be impressed by the poetry of this gathering.
