在晋永和，癸丑暮春，初作兰亭会。集众贤，临峻岭崇山，有茂林，修竹流水。畅幽情，纵无管弦丝竹，一觞一咏佳天气。于宇宙之中，游心骋目，此娱信可乐只。
Have you ever heard of it? In the late spring of 353 BC during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was a banquet held by Wang Xizhi in the Orchid Pavilion of Shaoxing City. It was home to forty-one emperors and generals, and not only had high mountains, but also lush forests, slender bamboo and winding streams. They have a pleasant chat here, even if there is no grand performance of the silk and bamboo orchestra, just drinking and writing poems, they can enjoy the mountains and waters in the clear sky and the friendly wind. They look up at the vastness of the universe, broaden their minds and stretch their eyes, and it is really pleasant.
念人生，相与放形骸；或一室，晤言襟抱开。静躁虽殊，当其可欣，不知老至。然倦复何之？情随事改，悲相系。俯仰间遗迹，往往俱成陈矣。况约境变迁，终期于尽，修龄短景都能几。嫚古换今移，时消物化，痛哉莫大生死！

每临文，吊往一兴嗟；亦自悼，不能喻于怀。算彭殇，妄虚均尔。今之视昔如契，后视今犹昔。故聊叙，录时人所述，慨想世殊事异。后之来者揽斯文，将悠然，有感于此。
